Oleh Antonyshyn and Steve McCabe (PlasSurg) completed a surgical mission to the Ukraine with residents Siba Haykal and Rayisa Hontscharuk and former Sunnybrook fellow, Dr. Tara Lynn Stewart. This effort garnered significant press attention as funding from the mission came from “United for Ukraine”, a fundraiser organized by the Canada Ukraine Foundation in September, attended by Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Wayne Gretzky and raised upwards of $200,000. Operation Rainbow Canada was a co-partner in helping to organize the mission. Oleh was featured on CBC radio Metro Morning with Matt Galloway on November 5th, 2014 explaining the need for assistance in the turbulent region.
